Strijp R – Eindhoven
For the living room of a new-build house in Eindhoven, we designed a lighting installation with the ‘Contour’ series. The living room is used for a wide variety of activities: dining, working, playing, making music… That is why it is all the more important that the light can be adjusted completely to the customers wishes. The customer, an architect, had a clear wish that the lighting should almost disappear in the high, square space.
One of the three design proposals – by means of a model – has been selected. The design has been refined with the customer in a number of follow-up conversations. This made it a very pleasant process for both the customer and us. The place for the lighting installation is centrally located: the lighting is clearly visible from the kitchen, the living room, the upper floor and the garden. We came up with a composition that gives a completely different look from each side of the room. If you look from the left, you will see a cluster of hanging luminaires, if you look from the right, the parts hang separately. When you walk by, the composition always seems to adapt.
The installation consists of 13 separate luminaires, each with a different length. Five of them hang horizontally and eight hang vertically. Some light lines hang with the light directed towards the wall or ceiling, while others have the light directed towards the viewer. A play of direct and indirect light. We also provided the ceiling solution, and installed everything on location. The installation can be controlled with an app and remote control, with endless possibilities in color and intensity.
