The customer had a very clear wish regarding the lighting. A previous project of ours was the inspiration. There was one challenge: We only had a maximum of 15 centimetres space from the wall. This is in contrast to the inspiration project, where the luminaires hang in a depth of 2 meters.
The idea of making a wall model soon came about. Based on our basic models (Mist, Moon, etc. see shop), but much more extensive and with multiple colour groups. The big advantage of this wall model is that all LED drivers can be hidden in the closed circle, and there is only one power cable coming out of the lamp. If there were an electricity point on the wall, even that cable would not be necessary!
We presented several sketches and small models to the customer and discussed the options. This lamp was one of our favourites of 2021 to work on, because of its fine craft in paper and the fact that we had to come up with some technical solutions for its production.
This lamp uses direct and indirect light. The closed circle contains light that shines towards the wall, while the other parts contain light that shines forward. The parts of the lamp are divided into 5 ‘colour groups’, and each group can be controlled separately. Colour and intensity can be set, and is always adjustable.

Of the four design proposals we sketched for the client, we also selected one to bring to life for our collection. This model, Space, was exhibited at Object Rotterdam 2022 and Dutch Design Week 2023. By the end of 2024, the design found its permanent place in the Slotervaart building in Amsterdam, where graphic elements were added through a mural.
