Building TQ, the host of the Strijp-T area, is a multi-company building for growing, ambitious organizations that are ready for the next step. The building represents various work by Dutch designers. The client’s wishes: Design, create and install an outstanding light installation in the stairwell, functional inside and striking from far outside.
With the ‘Contour’ series, Aptum designed a fairy-tale appearance with light in various pastel shades. Bigger installations have been made on the ground floor and the 8th floor that are connected by the lighting on each intermediate floor. This means that from the outside, all lighting is seen as a whole. The lighting in the stairwell is used both functionally and poetically. With very soft pastel shades, the light in the building itself is used as general lighting, while the colors are more visible from outside.
In the evening, when the building is not being used, the whole is shown in a different color setting, which enhances the fairytale-like effect, and one can recognize the building from afar. At special events, the lighting can be adjusted as desired in color and brightness. The whole is connected to and is controlled by the Dali system of the building itself.
